Tongariro Northern Circuit Adventure Run

Location: Tongariro North Circuit, National Park

Distance: 40km Adventure Run

An awesome group of women came together for our adventure run of the Tongariro Northern Circuit!

We gathered at Whakapapa Village on Friday evening, sharing a home-cooked dinner and the buzz of what lay ahead. Up early on Saturday morning, after a short shuttle to Mangatepopo carpark we hit the steps, warming up the legs as the landscape (and weather) opened up around us. The Red Crater delivered something truly spectacular, with dramatic terrain and views that stopped us in our tracks.

From there we passed the iconic Emerald and Blue Lakes, pausing to take it all in before dropping down into the vast and rugged Oturere Valley. By the time we reached Waihohonu Hut we were ready for a well-earned lunch stop, fuelling up while taking in the stunning surrounds.

The Taranaki Falls were a highlight of the afternoon and we stopped to soak them in before cruising through the beautiful bush trail and finishing in front of the Chateau. Around 40km covered and every single one of them worth it!

We celebrated at the finish before post-run showers, snacks, drinks, and a good debrief, then headed to the local hotel for dinner. A great group of women, one of New Zealand's most iconic tracks, and a weekend full of smiles, laughs, and memories!
